OEF / 6 / WP / 1, 1 (a), 1 (b), 1 (c) / 2014 – 2017 / Nasiyanur Sindan Kuttai Widening, Deepening & Diverting Drainages – Sindhan Kuttai – Nasiyanur:

Sindan Kuttai is spread over 10 acres at Nasiyanur Town Panchayat near Erode. This Kuttai has not been de-silted for last several decades. In the interest of public causes and upon request of the local public and farmers, the de-silting and deepening works was initiated by Olirum Erodu Foundation to bring back the Kuttai’s original structure to store more water to recharge the groundwater which will benefit thousands of public and farmers surrounding the Kuttai. The water storage capacity after de-silting and deepening works at Sindan Kuttai has increased several folds.

Public toilet waste water and sewage water were flowing into the Sindan Kuttai. Therefore, a separate pipe line was constructed at Sindan Kuttai to divert the public toilet waste water and sewage water through “Self Sufficiency Scheme” of Government of Tamilnadu. Now only fresh water can be stored at Sindan Kuttai like it was created originally.

Olirum Erodu Foundation and MCR Textiles have jointly cleaned and deepened. Work started on 22.08.2016 and was completed on 21.11.2016. The water storage capacity was only 13.65 lakhs liters before the work and increased to 54.60 Crores liters after the deepened work. The project cost is Rs 27.65 lakhs. There is no water shortage in three villages of Nasiyanur, Villarasampatti and Kathirampatti by this project.

Diverting Drainages

OEF / 13 / WP / 2, 2 (a), 2 (b), 2 (c), 2 (d), 2 (e) / 2015 – 2021 / Perumpallam Nanjai Uthukuli Irrigation Channel Renovation Project:

In the public cause, Olirum Erodu Foundation and Thamizhaka Vivasaya Sangam have together cleaned, de-silted and deepened the 16 KM stretch of Erode Surampatti Perumpallam – Nanjai Uthukuli Irrigation Canal. The 16 KM Canal’s de-silting works was completed after 25 years and benefits nearly 1 lakh people and 10000 farmers directly and about 2,550 acres are directly irrigated and about 1,500 acres are indirectly irrigated by groundwater enrichment. The District Collector and Public Works Department-Water Resources Organization have given timely support and guidance for completion of the de-silting project. Renovation work started on 11.12.2015 and completed on 01.09.2016 at a cost of Rs. 30.26 Crores. It meets the water needs of nearly one lakhs people and is the livelihood of about 10 thousand farmers and agricultural workers.

OEF / 24 / WP / 3 / 2016 – 2017 / Rettaipallivalasu Check Dam Desilting Project, Thindal:

Rettaipallivalasu Check Dam is about 3.45 acres and is situation in the upstream of Perumpallam stream at Thindal Therkkupallam. This Check Dam was de-silted and deepened after more than 10 years by Olirum Erodu Foundation with permission from Erode City Municipal Corporation (ECME). Both District Collector and Commissioner of ECME have inaugurated the deepening works. After de-silting nearly the water storage in Check Dam has increased nearly two times more compared to before de-silting works. Work started on 07.08.2016 and was completed on 30.08.2016. The water storage capacity was only 42 lakhs liters before the work and increased to 1.70 Crores liters after the desilting work. The project cost is Rs.2.62 lakhs. The Project is particularly useful in the area for laundry workers. Residents in the area also reported that water had accumulated in deep wells in residential areas near the dam.

OEF / 25 / WP / 4, 4 (a) / 2016 – 2017 / Vellalar College Check dam Desilting Project – Thindal

Three acres spread of Check Dam is situated at Vellalar Engineering College in Thindal and has been de-silted and deepened jointly by Vellalar Education Institutions and Olirum Erodu Foundation. This Check Dam was not de-silted for more than 10 years. Commissioner, Erode City Municipal Corporation inaugurated the de-silting works. Now after the de-silting, the total water storage capacity has increased at least twice. Work started on 23.10.2016 and was completed on 08.11.2016. The water storage capacity was only 1.21 Crores liters before the work and increased to 2.88 Crores liters after the desilting work.

OEF / 26 / WP / 5, 5 (a) / 2016 – 2020 / Sembampalayam Kuttai Deepening Project, Villarasampatti

Sembampalayam Kuttai is about 0.75 acres which was almost invisible and has not been de-silted for decades. Hence, Olirum Erodu Foundation has initiated to clean, deepening and widening of the Kuttai to bring back the originality of the Kuttai and to increase water storage. After deepening works, the total water storage in Sembampalayam Kuttai has increased to nearly one crores liters from merely one fourth of present capacity benefiting more than 1000 people including farmers. Within short span of time, the Kuttai was filled with full of water which helped to increase the bore wells and wells in that area. Olirum Erodu Foundation and Erode Turmeric Merchants and Warehouse Owners Association have jointly cleaned and deepened to create a new water body this has a capacity of about 1.00 crore liters of water. The work started on 24.09.2016 and was completed on 09.10.2016. The Project cost is Rs. 2.34 Lakhs.

OEF / 27 / WP / 6 / 2016 – 2017 / Nanjanapuram Check Dam Deepening Project – Kathirampatti

Nanjanapuram Check Dam at Kathirampatti Village Panchayat was not de-silted for more than a decade and the water storage capacity has reduced year after year with silt and solid waste. Therefore, Olirum Erodu Foundation has initiated to restore the originality of the Check Dam with increased depth and breadth of the Check Dam. Total area of the Check Dam is about 5 acres. Work started on 15.10.2016 and was completed on 10.11.2016. The water storage capacity was only 54 Lakhs liters before the work and increased to 8.17 Crores liters after the desilting work. The project cost is Rs 6.77 lakhs. The Water is recharged in wells and boreholes for 2 km radius around the Check dam.

Moolakkarai Check Dam – With active involvement of local public and farmers, the Moolakkarai Check Dam near Erode Nandha College was de-silted, deepened and widened by Olirum Erodu Foundation with permission from Government. This Check Dam is about 4 acres and has not been de-silted for several decades. After de-silting and deepening, the total water storage capacity has increased three times higher than before. Work started on 07.11.2016 and was completed on 16.11.2016. The water storage capacity was only 1 Crore liter liters before the work and increased to 5 Crores liters after the desilting work. The project cost is Rs 3.12 lakhs.

OEF / 29 / WP / 8 / 2016 – 2017 / Koorapalayam Check dam Deepening Project – Erode Union

Koorappalayam Check Dam was de-silted and deepened by Olirum Erodu Foundation with requests from farmer’s community. This Check Dam is about 1.5 acres spread. The water storage capacity has increased at least twice than before. Work started on 21.11.2016 and was completed on 25.11.2016. The water storage capacity was only 21 lakh liters before the work and increased to 1 Crore liters after the desilting work. The project cost is Rs 0.82 lakhs.

OEF / 30 / WP / 9 / 2016 – 2017 / Rangan Anaicut Deepening Project – Rangampalayam, Erode

Rangan Anaicut is about 7 years spread situated at Sathya Nagar, Rangampalayam, Erode. This Anaicut has not been de-silted and cleaned for several decades. Hence, in order to increase the water storage capacity, Erode Chapter of Builders Association of India and Olirum Erodu Foundation has initiated to de-silt, deepen and widen the Rangan Anaicut with permission to Public Works Department –Water Resources Organization and Commissioner, Erode City Municipal Corporation. After deepening and widening works, the water storage capacity has increased three times higher than that of previously. Work started on 05.12.2016 and was completed on 28.12.2016. The water storage capacity was only 4 Crores liters before the work and increased to 16 Crores liters after the deepened work. The project cost is Rs 0.76 lakhs.

Kathirampatti Check Dam located near Surya Engineering College in Kathirampatti. This check dam area is 1.60 acres. OEF and Green Field Housing India have been jointed for public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. Before desilting, water capacity is 1.66 Crore liters. But after the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 6.67 Crore liters, that is Five folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs.0.96 lakhs. Work started on 11.03.2017 and was completed on 20.03.2017. Benefits for around five villages to agriculture lands, irrigation feature, increase the ground water of wells and Borewells. Kathirampatti Check Dam located near TNEB office in Kathirampatti. This check dam area is 2.50 acres. OEF and Erode BNI Dynamic have been jointed for public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. Before desilting, water capacity is 1.81 Crore liters. But after the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 2.66 Crore liters, that is Two folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs. 1 lakhs. Work started on 11.03.2017 and was completed on 19.03.2017.

Erode Ellappalayam Check Dam is about 1.20 acres. OEF and Sri Suryodhayaa Processing Pvt.Ltd have been jointed for public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. The work started on 11.03.2017 and was completed on 19.03.2017.Before desilting, water capacity is 1.14 Crore liters. But after the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 2.89 Crore liters, that is two folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs.1.58 lakhs. Benefits for wells and Borewells. The work started on 20.03.2017 and was completed on 28.03.2017. Before desilting, water capacity is 40 Lakhs liters. Sadaiyampalayam Kuttai located at Ring Road in Rangampalayam. Erode City Municipal Corporation has created the Sadaiyampalayam Kuttai. This pond has been entrusted to Olirum Erodu Foundation for maintenance. OEF has installed diamond fencing around the Kuttai so as to prevent dumping of wastes by anti-social element. The project cost is Rs 1.85 lakhs.

Each year of March 22 World Water Day. 150 National Green Guards Coordinators Erode District School Teachers were given awareness about Save Water and Rain Water Harvesting Systems etc. Awareness Notice has been printed for 5000 copies for Educating among public and student about Save Water. Awareness on water conservation is being raised by school and college students on March 22, World Water Day. On 22.03.2017, Olirum Erodu Foundation and Young Indians have been jointed for public Awareness. A peaceful human chain procession with about 400 students in front of Tindal Vellalar College in a very special way on World Water Day. Erode District Collector Dr. S. Prabhakar IAS., for the procession they started leading. Trustees of the Olirum Erodu Foundation and members of the Young Indians part in the awareness rally. A human chain and awareness rally was also held in the Perundurai area with the students of Sasuri College and Maharaja College. The project cost is Rs 5.17 lakhs.

Chennimalai Namakalpalayam Kulam is about 8 acres. The Support Obtained by Kongu Velalar School, Kongu Velalar Trust and Sudhan yarns in Chennimalai .Extent length, Width and Depth worked this project. Work started on 28.05.2017 and was completed on 28.06.2017. Before desilting, water capacity is 2 Crores liters. But after the desilted and deepened the water storage capacity of increased to 10 Crore liters, that is Five folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs.9.51 lakhs. Increase the ground water of wells and Borewells. Local community has informed solved the drinking shortage. The concrete pipes are installed at two locations in this kulam. Water inlet areas are cleaned.

Inchampalli and Kalyanipuram Check Dams located in Keeramadai Village Modakurichi Taluk. This check dam’s area is 5 acres. The Support obtained by Gogul Adds and PKP Educational Trust in Kalyanipuram. This work Public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. Work started on 08.07.2017 and was completed on 30.07.2017. Before desilting, water capacity is 2 Crore liter. But after the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 6.30 Crores liters, that is two folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs.5.39 lakhs. Ayyepalayam Kulam located at Karattupalayam Panchayat in Nambiyur. This Kulam about 2.25 acres. This work Public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. No shape in this location. Olirum Erodu Foundation has created new kulam in Ayyepalayam village. After the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 2.65 Crores liters .The total expense of the work is Rs.13.69 lakhs. Work started on 01.10.0217 and was completed on 05.11.2017. Manthampalayam Check Dam located at Thiruvachi panchayat in Perundurai. This check dam about 1.60 acres. This work Public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. Work started on 11.06.2017 and was completed on 24.06.2017. Before desilting, water capacity is 75 Lakh liters. But after the desilted the water storage capacity of increased to 1.80 Crores liters, that is Three folds increased, the total expense of the work is Rs.3.51 lakhs. OEF / 68 / WP / 29 / 2018 – 2019 / Nadupalayam Kuttai Deepening Project – Nambiyur:

The Nadupalayam Kuttai is locating near LBP Irrigation canal at the Gurumanthur Panchayat in Nambiyur Union. In the great endeavor of the Olirum Erodu Foundation, with the permission of the government , the occupied watershed outlying land have been cleared by Revenue department and New pond of about 3 acres has been created. Then built a dam to this water level. Work started on 11.07.2018 and was completed on 27.07.2018. The water storage capacity before deepening of the check dam was 80 lakhs liters only and increased to 3.30 Crores liters after Deepened. Currently, water is being pumped from this water level to Kosanam village and three surrounding villages for public use.

OEF / 69 / WP / 30 / 2018 – 2019 / Pampagoundanpalayam New Kulam Creation Project – Kilampadi:

Pambagoundanpalayam Kulam located at Kilampadi Town Panchayat in Kodumudi. This Kulam about 1.70 acres. This work Public welfare and the durability has deepened and desilted. No shape in this location. Olirum Erodu Foundation has created new kulam in Pambagoundanpalayam village (This Village another name is Vendhapalayam). A new pond was created under the “one-pond one village” scheme of the Olirum Erodu Foundation on the farm land provided by 42 small farmers in the village. After the Deepened the water storage capacity of increased to 3.25 Crores liters. Work started on 03.06.2018 and was completed on 21.07.2018. The project cost is Rs 8.87 lakhs. The Water is recharged in wells and boreholes for 1.5 km radius around the pond.

OEF / 70 / WP / 31/2018 – 2019 / Koramadai Odai Deepening Project – Nambiyur:

The Koramadai stream, in the Nambiyur area of the Karattupalayam panchayat, covers an area of 1.82 acres. Olirum Erodu Foundation has cleaned and deepened the stream in the public interest. Koramadi stream work was started on 29.05.2018 and was completed on 22.06.2018. The water storage capacity has been increased to 1.80 Crores liter from 79 lakhs liters. The project cost is Rs 4.20 lakhs. Benefits for around two villages at agriculture areas irrigation feature wells and Bore wells. Local community has informed for solved the drinking shortage and agriculture issues.

OEF / 71 / WP / 32/2018 – 2019 / Kolathupalayam Kulam Deepening Project – Ganapathypalayam:

Kolathupalayam Kulam located in Modakurichi Taluk, Punjai Kalamangalam Panchayat, near Karur Main Road which is spread over area of 14 acres, with a storage capacity of 3 Crores liters. The kulam was cleaned, widened and deepened due to the interests of Olirum Erodu Foundation and participation of public. SKM groups helped by providing JCB machine for Eucalyptus trees removal works. Work was started on 19.08.2018 and got complete by 20.09.2018. The water storage capacity has now increased to 10.45 Crores liters after the project was concluded. The project cost is Rs 13.17 lakhs. The Water is recharged in wells and boreholes for 5km radius around the pond.

OEF / 72 / WP / 33, 33 (a) / 2017 – 2019 / Karuchigounpalayam New Check Dam Construction Project – Kanjikovil – Erdoe District

Karichigoundanpalayam village located at Kanjikovil Town Panchayat. Total area of Odai is 1.5 acres. Local Peoples had requested. New check dam has constructed across Stream. This project joint with Kanjikovil Lions club. Now that place water storage capacity is 64 lakes liters. The Construction Work started on 28.10.2017 and was completed on 27.02.2018. The total expense of the work is Rs.3.88 lakhs Benefits for around agriculture areas irrigation feature wells and Bore wells.

OEF / 73 / WP / 34, 34 (a) / 2018 – 2019 / New Check Dam Construction Project – Moolakkarai Moolakkarai New Check Dam:

Erode Lower Bhavani Project (LBP), Erode, Irrigation seepage water which goes into the Perumbalam Odai, Olirum Erodu Foundation, Real Estate Association and the local community jointly built a new check dam across it. The check dam work was initiated on 12.07.2018 and finished by 07.08.2018. The seepage water coming out from the Lower Bhavani Irrigation Project (LBP) was 3.16 Crores liters, which is now getting stored and conversed, over a wide area of 3.50 acres. Steel Handrails were fixed in the Concrete Bridge for the safety of the pedestrian. The project cost is Rs 25.85 lakhs. Open wells and bore wells around the Check dam are getting recharged, proving beneficial for the ground water belt recharge.

Kottai Easwaran Temple Theppakulam is located at Ramanujar Road in Erode City Municipal Corporation. This Theppakulam about 0.32 acres. RR Thulasi Builders Pvt.Ltd is Partner of this project. Renovation work started on 220.09.2017 and was completed on 30.09.2018. And Kumbabisekam was conducted. About 17 lakhs liters of water has been conserved on an area of 0.32 acres. The project cost is Rs 50.57 lakhs.

OEF / 99 / WP / 39 / 2018 – 2019 / Ramanayakanpalayam New Kulam Creation Project, Mel Thindal

The Farmer of Ramanayakkanpalayam Village Mr.P.Kasiyannagoundar, Correspondent, AET School, Mettukadai, Erode. A new pond was created under the “one-pond one village” scheme of the Olirum Erodu Foundation on the farm land provided by him. Water storage capacity of 1.30 Crores liters of water has been created in the area of 1.25 acres. Work started on 24.10.2018 and was completed on 08.12.2018. The project cost is Rs 3.48 lakhs.

OEF / 100 / WP / 40 , 40 (a) / 2019 – 2020 / Kammalan kuttai Deepening Work – Nasiyanur

Kammalan Kuttai is located on the Erode – Nasiyanur main road under the Nasiyanur Town panchayat.The new pond was created by the Olirum Erodu Foundation, MCR Textiles and Nasiyanur Karupparayan Temple Committee.This area had been covered with full of mud Soil and encroached upon. The New Pond creation work was started on 24.08.2019 and completed on 18.10.2019. At present, 66 lakhs liters of water is stagnant in 2 acres. The project cost is Rs.5.12 lakhs.

OEF / 101 / WP / 41 / 2019 – 2020 / Kalingarayan Irrigation Canal Cleaning Project – Konavaikal to Pasur

The Kalingarayan Irrigation Canal is about 736 years old. Cleaned the Olirum Erodu Foundation under the Jalshakthi Abhiyan project with the permission from Public Works Department (PWD). The Kalingarayan canal has a total length of 90.9 KM. A total of 20.43 KM from Konavaikkal to Pasur was cleared. The work was started on 06.07.2019 with the cooperation of the farmers and the work was completed on 14.08.2019. The cost of the project is Rs 6.38 lakhs. The Project has paved the way for water to flow into the irrigation canal.

OEF / 102 / WP / 42, 42 (a) / 2019 – 2021 / Malaiyampalayam Check Dam Deepening Project – kodumudi

The Malayampalayam check dam is located at Kilampadi Town Panchayat in Kodumudi area. And it covers an area of 2.81 acres. Olirum Erodu Foundation and SIDBI Bank jointly cleaned and desilted. Work started on 09.03.2020 and was completed on 17.07.2020. The water storage capacity was only 31 lakhs liters before the work and increased to 1.15 Crores liters after the desilting work. The project cost is Rs 6.11 lakhs.

After Deepening with Water

Olirum Erodu Foundation has created a New Pond under the “One Pond One village” Scheme at inchampalli panchayat in Modakurichi Union. The New Pond creation work started on 25.02.2020 and was completed on 30.06.2020. At present, 1.81 Crores liters of water is stagnant in 3.61 acres. The project cost is Rs 15.42 lakhs. This has led to water logging in nearby agricultural wells and public boreholes.

OEF / 122 / WP / 49, 49 (a) / 2020 – 2021 / Kaasipalayam New Kulam Creation Project – Kannagi Nagar – KK. Nagar, Erode City Municipal Corporation.

Creating a New Pond under “Oorukku Oru Kulam Thittam” from OEF Funds at Kaasipalayam KK.Nagar, Kannagi Nagar, near Angala Parameswari Temple. Where the stream of seepage water flows from Rangan pallam, Rangan Anaicut and rainwater from that area flowing through Erode Arts & Science college, Police station, and Dr. RANM Arts & Science college and another stream consisting excess overflow water from Sadaiyampalayam Kuttai and seepage water from LBP irrigation flowing thorough Railway under bridge confluenced. Work started on 14.08.2020 and was completed on 23.09.2020. At present 1.02 Crores liters of water is stagnant in 2.15 acres. The project cost is Rs 8.67 lakhs. This has led to water logging in nearby agricultural wells and residential boreholes.

OEF / 123 / WP / 50, 50 (a) / 2020 – 2021 / Perumugai New Kulam & New Check Dam Construction – Vaaniputhur

This Water body is located in the Perumugai Panchayat near Vaaniputhur in Gobichettipalayam Taluk. This New pond and New Check dam was deepened and built with the funds of the Olirum Erodu Foundation for the Wildlife to meet the water sources at the foothills of the Western Ghats (also Known as Aruvaapaali Hills). Work started on 05.08.2020 and was completed on 25.12.2020. At present 43.49 lakhs liters of water is stagnant in 1.46 acres. The project cost is Rs 9.41 lakhs

OEF / 125 / WP / 52 / 2020 – 2021 / Karukkampalayam Lake, – Nambiyur- Athikadavu Avinachi Water Scheme – Sembandampalayam Lake Deepening Project

This Sembandampalayam Lake is located village of Puluvar Karukkampalayam under the Panchayat of Ozhalakovil in Nambiyur Union. Sembandampalayam Lake, also known as Karukkampalayam Lake, covers an area of about 22 acres. Work on this lake was started on 05.11.2020 and completed on 13.01.2021 with the funds of the Olirum Erodu Foundation. Water storage capacity was only 3.31 Crores liters before the work and 10.45 Crores liters after the deepening work. The project cost is Rs 21.81 lakhs. Sembandampalayam Lake is one of the water bodies under the Athikkadavu Avinashi Water Project. The lake was reached full water capacity on 05.11.2021. Local’s community was sprinkled flowers and worshiped for the rainwater as it overflowed. This has led to water logging in agricultural wells and boreholes around the lake. Kalanjiyam Farmers Association and the Local peoples thanked nature and Olirum Erodu foundation.

OEF / 146 / WP / 53 / 2021 – 2022 / Rainwater Drainage Stream Cleaning Project – Erode City Municipal Corporation:

Erode Mega Cleaning Project is a project to clean rainwater drainage streams in the areas under the Erode Corporation. From 20.09.2021 to 02.12.2021, rainwater drainage streams in major parts of Erode city were cleaned by the Glowing Erode Foundation. At the base of the Kalingarayan Canal near the Karaivaikkal area, rainwater drains into the Cauvery River – (UNDER TUNNEL (UT) or canal built under the canal) by these UT effluents.The entire embankment has been in place for many years (approximately 7 feet high, 10 feet wide, 3 gorges). Waste blockages about 4 feet high were removed (UT).

Another rainwater drainage stream areas under Erode Corporation are Kollampalayam, Jeevanandham Road (Ward – 49), Thayumanavar Road, Netaji Road., Kattabomman Road and Loganathapuram Colony (there is a drainage stream under the railway bridge) and a short distance from the area joins the Kalingarayan Canal at Konavaikkal. The work was completed by cleaning the rainwater drainage streams in certain areas. (About 3 KM). The project cost is Rs. 3.25 lakhs. This project will remove the blockages in the rainwater drainage streams and allow the water to flow to the outlet has been done.
